Magazines

I am an active reader of many magazines. Lately, I have noticed that many of the magazines that I read are going out of print. So sad. Here is a list of my favorites who have called it quits

This magazine was amazing. The photography was super. It was almost Martha Stewart like, but for normal people. I was so sad to see it go.
This one closed shop just as I was really getting into digital scrapbooking.

I loved the style of this magazine. The scrapbook layouts that were published were very simple and easy to scrap-lift.

This one I will really miss. I love the articles in the magazine. They were so appropriate to where I am as a Christian woman. A couple months again they did a special section on living up to the "Perfection Proception". Great. TCW is morfing into an online magazine called Kyria. While I'm looking forward to continue reading articles by many of the same contributors as TCW, I don't think I'll get the same satisfaction as cuddling up on the couch with a cup of something nice to drink and a good magazine.

I'm also sad to see this one go. The head offices of this magazine is in Cincinnati. I liked that. I loved the digital scrapbooking downloads they offered. For a while they had a series of articles by the artist/author Sandra Magsamen.

Magazines I hope don't decide to close their doors!

How do you feel about magazines. What ones do you read? Let me know!

Felt Storyboard

Storytime will be starting soon at work. I am very excited! I have really missed it over the summer!
Today I made a storytime flannel box. I know, how old fashion. Yet kids love the touch and feel of the box and they love to move the little pieces around!
I put the background pieces on velcro. So when they get worn out or pilled, I can just add more!

This is for our goodbye chant!

Five little monkeys jumping on the bed!

A side view!

In other news the weather her in Cincinnati is amazing! Almost fall like! :D I have jeans on! Delightful!

Happy 100th Post This Year!

This is my 100th post this year! Yahoooooooooo!!!!!!! How about some banana bread?

I am working on a project for work. I'm making a book for the 1st week of storytime called, "Hannah Olivia Monkey Makes Banana Bread". So thats just what we did! Here are some pics! Hannah Olivia is our new Storytime puppet! The kids love her already! (PS: I got the recipe from here )

Hannah loves Bananas

Hannah spraying the pans!

Grabbing the egg!

Just before putting it in the oven!

We forget to put in the flours! Silly monkey! We don't put flowers in banana bread!

Hannah enjoying a snack!

The bread came out really well. I think the sour cream made the difference!

It even looks beautiful!

With just a bit of butter!

I made some wrappers for the mini-loaves to give to some families at church tomorrow!

Treated myself to some mini sunflowers! Lovely! Lovely!

I'm on this cooking and cleaning phase. I'm rather enjoying it and so is Michael. Tonight I made stuffed peppers! They have ground beef, rice, stewed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and cilantro! Ate them with a dab of sour cream! Yummers!
Look at all the lovely colors!

Off to go read this magazine! Is it too early to be thinking about Christmas cards?

Have a great night!!

Canning

Michael and I went to Borders on Sunday night for some reading and coffee! I found this great books on canning.

I have never canned before. Yet, I really enjoy foods that are canned. Its nice in the winter to have lovely raspberry jam! Mmmmm!!! My mother use to make jam. It was always sooo good! I'm going to stop by the library this evening to see if they have this book! My mother said that pickles were a easy place to start.

I have been thinking a lot lately about food.We eat out far too often and that well, is not so healthy. I read lots of blogs and magazines and have found LOADS of recipes for wholesome easy food. I don't know why I haven't tried them yet. Lack of time and lack of confidence in the culinary arts may just have something to do with it. Mmmmm.....I am craving Peaches, Honey, and Greek Yogurt :D Ahhhhhhhhh :D
