Happy First Day of Wearing Jeans!

Today I wore jeans for the first time since.........Mmm...May! I really think it should be a national holiday or something! Ta-Da! It's finally chilly enough to wear jeans!!! Break out the marching band! It's time for a parade! It really is a beautiful day out today!! I took a little walk and took some pictures!!

Michael and I have started attending Grace Fellowship. We really like it! Michael knows a lot of people who attend there. People actually talk to us at Grace. At another church that Michael and I attended, nobody talked to us the whole 6 months that we tried it out. The church is really big on small groups. So we called up the leaders of a few groups and we are going to try them out this week. Michael and I also wanted to get involved in Children's Ministry

Observations, Conclusions, and Ponderings

Conclusion #1: I do not like Halloween. Costumes...Love um! Candy...Yes Please!! Children...Great! Candy Corn...Wonderful! Pumpkins...Fabulous! I have finallyfigured out why I dislike this holiday! It's the push to dress in costume. I dress in a costume everyday for work...its cool...! Well...On Halloween EVERYONE dresses in a costume. The idea of doing what everyone else is doing is not apealing at all. Will I dress up on Halloween??.......Yes. Not because everyone else is...but because I like to wear costumes!

Observation #1: While at Walmart I was purusing the Craft section as I usually do. Next to the FAKE flowers were two cute little girls. Little toe heads with curls. Their mother was checking out the stamps. Clutched in the hands of the little girls were bouquets of fake flowers. They were marching down, while humming "Here comes the bride." This scene was so cute and so endearing. It reminded me of similar episodes in my own life. I remember use towels and blankets to craft beautiful wedding gowns!

Observation #2: I become internally irate when people jump ahead of me in line while at stores! Sometimes I speak up...but most of the time I just smolder on the inside.

Today, I have been reading "Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. I get her style of writing and thinking. I didn't know that other people actually think in the same random masses like I do. My favorite entry is

Broker

It is weird and unsettling that a person who is hired to handle your money, make wise decision about it, and ostensibly, keep you from losing it is called a broker.

Have you ever read a book where you just want to throw your hands up and shout "YES! YES! YES!" That is exactly how I think/feel about something?! That is how I feel about this book.

Strange Pondering #1: I can't believe I actually spend time pondering this but, here you go. I often wonder if the name of the store Petsmart. Is PETS-MART, or is it PET-SMART. Has anyone else ever pondered on this?

Feeling Better, Women Ministry, and Crafting

It's Saturday! The Sun is shinning! The pink eyes have gone away! Thank goodness! I am feeling so much better! I was just in such a funk last week!

Do you ever just get that feeling that you should be doing something....but it scares you to death. Well, for me that is speaking in front of adults! I can talk all day in front of a group of children. If I have to talk in front of other adults I get the shakes and my voice quivers! Not such a good thing! Yet for the last two or three years I've just felt like I really need to get involved somehow with Women's Ministry. I really want to connect with other women. I'm not just talking about surface "How ya doing?" kind of relationship but actual friendships with other women. After college and Camp Sonshine it has been really hard to meet people. Most of the women I work with are into going to bars and dancing! Not my cup of tea! I've talked to a few other women and they feel the exact way. Our society is so into quick communication that we don't take the time anymore to actually get to know other people! It's just so sad. A few months ago I tried to plan a Girls Night Out with the teachers at my schools. I invited over 100 women and only 4 other women showed up! A bit disapointing. Yet, I know that I should try again! I found this Women's Ministry Website! It looks very intresting. I wonder if other women at church would be interested in something like GirlFriends Unlimited!?

I went to Dollar Tree to find my 2 year old niece a Birthday Gift! Ok..You may be thinking....Oh that Cheapy...but really you can get cool things there. My niece Lexi is really into "Helping" her Mom. So I bought her a bowl, a spatula, a duster, and a hand broom and dust pan! So anyway...at Dollar Tree I found the cutest felt doily (Spelling Anyone??) things! 5 of them for a $1. Not so bad!

Cute Huh!!

A card for my Brother and his Wife

Off to Jessica in Utah!

Going to get my outfit ready for church tomorrow! We will not be late tomorrow!

Being Embarrassed!!

Embarrassment is not something that happens to me very often. I wear the craziest get-ups for work! I'm usually pretty silly! I trip up stairs. I drop things. Yet, this weekend, I was actually embarrassed! Michael and I were late for church (as always) so we had to park in the field just below the church!! We were walking down a hill to get to a bridge to walk up another hill. Well....the grass was wet, I had flip flops. So....I rolled down the hill. I should have jumped up and started laughing. No, I layed there with a bruised ego! A few LARGE families were at the top of the hill watching me roll down the hill! Yikes!

My first instinct was to run away and hide! Where did that feeling come from?

I've been feeling a bit out of sorts lately! It's the usual end of summer slump! After just going on all engines during the summer....I'm burnt out. Maybe next year, I'll plan a vacation in September when I'll really need it the most!

Longing for some chilly weather! Longing for leaves that change color. Longing for long pants. Longing for decorated pumpkins. Longing for Caramel Apple Cider at Starbucks. Longing to redecorate the whole house! Longing to clean the house! Longing to organize everything. Longing to buy school supplies! Sick of wearing shorts. Sick of sandels! READY FOR FALL!

Today: Saturday!

Today!
This morning I woke up at 9:30. Reasonable for a Saturday! Michael wanted Hootin' Annie. After the flop I made of it last time I wasn't so sure that I wanted to give it another try. According to Michael I had used too much salt. So this time I only used 1/8 of a teaspoon of salt! The Hootin' Annie came out beautifully! Too bad I wasn't really hugry. I had the last Lime bar shortly before making breakfast! So we saved the last bit for another day! Michael loves breakfast food! Michael requests Pancakes or Hootin' Annie every weekend! I feel bad because I DON'T cook during the week, so I usually give into his request for a nice weekend brunch!

We headed down to Main Strasse for the Oktoberfest!! It wasn't that great! Ok...thats not exactly true. Michael and I had gone to Maifest there back in May! Oktoberfest was very similar! I was expecting some German music and dancing, but there was non of that...I was disapointed! The food was good though! We shared a large preztel. I had some German Potato Salad. Michael had a funnel cake! We ended up walking to Proverbs Coffee shop on the way back to the car! I did manage to take a few pictures! Here they are in no particular order!

A Pig being roasted on a spit! Yummy!

Some random guy in his front yard!

Hot German Potato Salad! This picture is for my Dad! He loves this stuff!
